Over 20 year ago, I was married in the most beautiful 11th Century agriturismo in the Maremma region of Southern Tuscany. We have returned many times to Pieve di Caminino and it has always been my dream to bring people there to create. Five years ago, I launched my first painting workshop in Tuscany and since then dozens of artists and friends have journeyed to this incredible place to work and play with me. This year, I will be expanding my offerings to include a Creative Practice Residency along with my Landscape Painting Retreat.

Painting & Sketching Colorful Topographies

The Maremma: Southern Tuscany

Dates: Thursday September 28th - Thursday October 5th 2023

Ancient Italian vistas including 13th Century Ruins, the 11th Century agriturismo Pieve di Caminino with her Olive Groves & Cork Forests, Rolling Fields, Vineyards & nearby Medieval Hill Towns will inspire our imagery. Instruction will focus on the expressive interpretation of the landscape of beautiful Southern Tuscany. On location, artists will travel light, experimenting on paper with portable media such as pen & ink, pencil, conte, watercolor & gouache. Emphasis will be on creating multiple, simplified studies organically integrating the fleeting light and evolving color of each location. In the studio, visual data collected outdoors will inspire further work in a choice of media. Yoga & Meditation will deepen a connection to the beauty of the Maremma and liberate the artistic process.

Creative Practice Residency

Dates: Saturday October 7th - Saturday October 14th 2023

Devote a week to deepening your creative practice in the beautiful Tuscan hills of the Maremma. Whether you are a painter, sketcher, sculptor, photographer, writer, musician or multimedia artist, this is an opportunity to gain inspiration from the ancient part of Southern Tuscany. Join a small group of artists for process-based making. The 11th Century property of Caminino, your private self-catered apartment and our communal loft studio will be ideal places for your practice. Days devoted to an open exploration of your chosen medium will be followed by several evening salon-style conversations allowing for a cross-pollination of ideas in a supportive environment. Yoga & Meditation will deepen a connection to the beauty of the Maremma and liberate your artistic process.
